Christian conservative politics seem to be diminishing our effectiveness to spread the Gospel. There seems to be louder voice given to a political agenda and patriotism than to expanding the Kingdom of Heaven.
If you don't vote republican you are not really a christian
has been insinuated time and time again. Ferver over serious moral issues have over ridden compassion for the lost and the sinful state of those deemed immoral.
In her book The Hiding Place Corrie Tenboom wrote some description of her father that found place in my heart. One was when Casper saw a German brutalizing a Jewish man Casper response was that poor man has raised his hand against one of God's chosen people. Concern for the lost was his first response.
Corrie also wrote It isn't that Father didn't notice the difference in people. He didn't know there was any.
I read that as a novelist believer. It gave me an idea of what a mature Christian is.
All of that to say this. The Christian over involvement in this political climate here in the United States has brought the church state of lukewarm. The dear old saints who raised me up in the faith prayed on their faces night and day before GOD to bring revival. Instead of evangelism we are engulfed in wide spread political activism and arrogant patriotism.
America love it or leave it is again the call of the day from those who Shout I am in the army of God.
Since Jesus rose from the dead God has had a church not an army. He has had a peculiar people and a royal priesthood not a chosen nation.
Any spot on the face of the Earth where a person calls upon the name of God is important to God because He is a very present help in times of trouble.
Personally I am more concerned about GOD judging The Church in America far more than I am concerned about him judging this nation. If judgement begins with the house of God where will the ungodly and the sinner be.
I honestly believe We American Believers need to repent and return to our first love.
